Google Maps

As part of my MKTG 3700 (Fundamentals of Product Management) course, I conceptualized and designed a new user experience feature within Google Maps—“Vacation Mode”—to increase app stickiness among travelers in a competitive space. Backed by customer interviews and user journey mapping, the concept addressed key unmet needs such as neighborhood safety visibility and awareness of underutilized features like custom maps and local recommendations. Using persona-driven problem solving and value vs. effort prioritization, I proposed a dual-feature solution: integrating real-time safety insights and improving vacation-specific feature onboarding. I validated the concept through qualitative research, job stories, and prototype testing, ultimately delivering a high-impact, user-centered feature that aligns with product growth goals and enhances usability for travel-focused users.
